Pam Newton

Pamela O. Newton earned her Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Dominican University and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox College. Pam is a trailblazer, from first being elected as the youngest woman as a Village Trustee at age 28, and serving the public every year since 1985 in numerous municipal, county, state, and national positions. Newton joined the Village of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, in 2009 as their first Chief Operating Officer, a name synonymous with Village Administrator. She has over 35 years of elected and appointed public service experience, and has held numerous positions having served with the Village of Hawthorn Woods, Lake County government, the State of Illinois, and has served on national committees focusing on the environment. Her tenure as the Vice-President of the Lake County Forest Preserve District and as Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Association of Park and Conservation Districts has made her a popular guest on the environmental speaker’s circuit. She has recently led her community to reach the designation of National Audubon Community, the first community in Illinois to reach this distinction, and earn the Dark Sky International Association community award, the second city in Illinois to reach this environmental honor. Her community is the past winner of the Governor’s Hometown Award for Environmental Efforts in the State of Illinois, and is the proud past recipient of the America in Bloom National Award for Environmental Efforts.
