Brent Pemberton
Brent Pemberton received a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Texas Tech University in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Floriculture from the University of Minnesota in 1983. He recently retired from the Texas A&M University System where he was a project leader for Ornamental Research at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Overton, Texas since 1982. is current title is Professor Emeritus Horticulture and Regents Fellow, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Texas A&M University System. e is also a Fellow of the American Society for Horticultural Science. His research specialties include bedding plant production and greenhouse and garden performance evaluations, field and nursery production of garden roses, field evaluation of roses for disease resistance and heat tolerance, effects of heat on flowering of poinsettia, postharvest performance, and plant growth regulators. He is a member of the Executive Board for the Texas Superstar® Program. During his research career, he worked with teams of other researchers and educators, particularly in the area of plant performance evaluations and disease and heat tolerance of roses. His plant evaluation work also included the pleasure of working for over 25 years with volunteer Master Gardener groups as an integral part of the trials process.
