Mayor’s Youth Council
Calabasas, California

The Calabasas Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) is a commission of the City of Calabasas, California tasked with making recommendations to City Council on matters of interest to young people in the community. One of the ways this is done is through working as liaisons between the City and students in the community.

In August 2023, Public Works Staff began communicating with MYC on different events and projects within the community. From this initial meeting, MYC members were invited to help hand out giveaways for the City’s annual Walk to School Day event and they were invited to assist with an upcoming Public Outreach event for the Las Virgenes Creek Restoration Phase III Project.

The MYC were invited to attend the Las Virgenes Green Street Project’s groundbreaking ceremony in October. Since the groundbreaking, regular reports have been given to the Environmental Commission which has 2 student members who relay any ongoing information to the MYC.  Finally, the MYC has a booth at the City’s Annual Earth Day Festival and will be assisting with the upcoming Arbor Day Celebration.
