Playground Rebuild in Tavares, Florida

Wooton Wonderland Playground
Tavares, Florida

An existing ramping system playground that was funded and built by the community in 1991 was replaced by the City with an inclusive, multi-generational playground. Funding was secured for all the ADA elements associated with construction of the playground through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The City exceeded the matching portion of the grant for the play elements of the facility. The design was drafted to embrace our aviation-based city brand, ‘America’s Seaplane City’, resulting in the decision to include a semi-custom air traffic control tower as the main focal point of the space. Picnic tables, benches, lighting, and a plaza adjoining the playground and Splash Pad were all a part of the design.

Receipt of the CDBG grant was paramount to accomplish the beautiful, new space. Keeping with our brand has enabled us to realize a unique playground that is already proving itself to be a destination.
